Among the first few houses in a new residential enclave where there are no pre-existing buildings to contribute to the definition of context, this project became an opportunity to conceive of a fresh language for home design : one that is dynamic yet calm, novel yet timeless, new and familiar.
The hope is to inspire a culture of exploration and experimentation, to deter the tendency of imitation of pre-existing architecture, a habit that seems to be prevalent in residential enclaves these days.

“The Obscura House in Manila redefines what it means to live vertically in a dense urban landscape. Designed by Jason Buensalido and the ream at Barchan + Architecture, this striking home balances sustainability, heritage, and contemporary living. A compact lot transforms into a sanctuay where every detail responds to both the climent and the Filipino way of life.
Step inside to find a home that celebrates context and authenticity. Local an dinternational design pieces – from Kenneth Cobonpue and Milo Naval to Schema Lighting and Selena Placino’s Taho bench – intertwine with intentional architectural gestiures, creating a spaces that evolves with its owners. More than a residence, the Obscura House stands as a manifesto of contemporary Filipino arhcitecture : functional, soulful, and built to endure.
